Convictions against four young men from Canberra and Queanbeyan over violent assaults on two people on the Far South Coast have been thrown out on appeal.
Jamie Ward, Conor Thurgood, Francesco Tine and Mitchel Barnes were all facing up to 18 months in jail over the incident in June last year at Batemans Bay.
But Judge Pauline David has labeled the the victims as unreliable witnesses who were “generic” and “vague”.

She’s told Nowra District Court…the prosecution evidence did not properly identify the four accused.
The matter will return to court later this year for a cost’s application.
