Eurobodalla Shire Council says they have no plans to relocate Moruya’s Memorial Swimming Pool from Riverside Park.
The idea of building a new pool at Gundary came up during recent community engagement on a draft new Masterplan for the popular waterfront park.
But the council’s Recreation Director Kathy Arthur told a workshop this week the pool is staying put.
“It is coming to the end of its life so we do need to be prudent and do some planning around that,” Ms Arthur said.
“That was an issue raised extensively during community engagement,” she said.
“There was some misunderstandings about what we were doing. There was no intention of moving the pool at this point in time or potentially never.
“We do need as an organisation and community look at the pool. It’s about, I think 50 to 60 years old. It is getting to the end of its life so we actually need to plan around that and have a conversation. It’s a whole separate project on its own that will require a business case, require o lot of planning a lot of consultation. It’s a whole entity outside of this process.”
The updated draft Riverside Park Masterplan will be on the agenda for endorsement at the Eurobodalla Shire Council meeting next week.
