Bureaucrats from Eurobodalla Shire Council and State Government agencies will get together today to discuss their next moves in the ongoing issue of tidal inundation at Surfside.
A temporary so-called protective sand dune and one thousand plants placed between beachfront homes and the water were largely washed into the ocean by the latest event a few weeks ago.
Local State MP Michael Holland met with 40 homeowners on Friday afternoon to deliver the update.
He told them there’s nothing new to report on the response.
“It still comes back to the Coastal Management Plan and the Emergency Plan, which is part of that Coastal Management Plan, which is the responsibility of the local government,” Dr Holland said.
“They did the beach scraping last time,” he said.
Bodies involved in the meeting today include Eurobodalla Shire Council, NSW Environment and Planning, and Transport for NSW, who is responsible for maritime matters.
“I support the idea of repeating what was done previously, the sand scraping. I wasn’t here during the last event but that was your experience and you would know what it was like.
“I saw the before and after and I see what the results have been so far.”
