The Far South Coast could provide part of the answer to the short supply of fuel in the future.

The Federal Government is currently considering locations across Australia to establish mass fuel storage facilities including around the Port of Eden.

Local MP Kristy McBain is a big fan of the idea.

“There is definitely a proposal around fuel storage for the port of Eden but those will be assessed in due course by the Department of Industry,” Ms McBain said.

“I think it’s really important that we start to look at all of those deep water ports that we have and potential storage areas,” she said.

“In many cases it would be a back to the future type scenario, where we’ve previously had stores of fuel in and around Eden so anything that increases the opportunity for people in our part of the world is absolutely something that I’d support.”
