A swan has been spotted catching a wave on the South Coast over the weekend!

Tuross Head local, Karyn Everingham, captured the amazing footage showing the Black Swan cruising into Potato Point Beach like an absolute professional.

“It catches waves better than me,” Everingham said.

“I’ve been living on the South Coast since the late 1980’s and I’ve never seen anything like it,” she said.

Check out the video below.

“A group of my friends from the Shoalhaven were in town for a camping weekend, so I popped down to visit for the day and an excited person from the beach ran up and said there’s a swan catching waves.

“My friend Ninu and I decided to go for a walk to check it out and to our delight, the swan was still playing around in the waves.”

“I often go down to Potato Point for a surf, and I’ve seen everything from roos to emus on the beach but never a swan in the surf!”

While the Black Swan is a waterbird, it’s rare but not completely uncommon for them to hang ten in coastal waters.
