Pambula’s Autumn tennis competition wraps up

The Pambula Tennis Club’s Monday night Autumn Competition drew to a close last night (Monday May 15), with the grand finals held in perfect Autumn conditions at the Pamula Tennis Courts.

Interest in the competition increased this season, which resulted in Nicole and Speed Gordon running two divisions.

It was a close battle between the winners and runners up in both grades on Monday night.

In A Grade, Andrew’s Apples (pictured above and made up of Andrew and Leanne Blaxter, Nic Crowe, Wayne Paton filling in for Andy Robertson, and Shelley Smallwood filling in for Jenny King) prevailed over Neil’s Nectarines (pictured below, that featured Neil and Kathy Baker, Steph Robin, Phillipa Djikic and Lee James).

While in In B Grade, it was a hot contest was between Speed’s Strawberries and Kel’s Kiwis with the Strawberries coming away eventual winners.

The night was capped with an end of season barbeque and a random draw of Pambula/Merimbula business prizes for all competition players.

The next Monday evening competition is scheduled to begin in September with a stat date for the spring competition to be advised via the club’s website and posted on the clubhouse door.

The club’s social tennis group continues to meet on Monday and Thursday mornings from 9-11am with new players welcome to join up.

The Pambula Tennis Club will now shift it’s focus to the construction of a new walkway between the courts and replacement seating, with works due to start later this month.

The club is reviewing all available grants and preparing for future grant applications and looking to improve or replace some court surfaces, court perimeter wiring and lighting at the Pambula courts.
