Our region’s top health bureaucrat has finally reached out to the family of a Pambula Beach woman, who died from uterine cancer after being misdiagnosed at South East Regional Hospital in Bega.
The move by Southern NSW Local Health District Chief Executive Margaret Bennett follows our stories about 56-year-old Simone Crerar on Tuesday.
This included the fact that the family had not been contacted for the past nine months by the LHD despite assurances for a full review of Simone’s scans and care.

Simone’s grieving brothers Stephen and Scott said Ms Bennett was apologetic during a phone call to them but provided no real answers.
They said she has offered to meet them in person to go over the findings of a review of the scans and care she received at the hospital last year.
A time for this occur has not been arranged yet.
