Former cop’s appeal for on-the-job assaults rejected

A bid by a former Batemans Bay policeman to quash convictions for assault against two teenagers has failed.

Last year 37-year-old Brett David Lindsay was found guilty of assaulting the boys at a now former motel on Beach Road in November 2023.

Following a two-day appeal hearing in the District Court this week Judge Lara Gallagher dismissed the application stating “it was clear the force used was excessive and not appropriate.”

Lindsay’s attempt to have his Community Corrections Order downgraded was also rejected by the court.
