Two dogs have been euthanised in the wake of a baby’s death on the South Coast of NSW.
The five-week-old girl had a head injury when she was rushed to Moruya Hospital by her parents on the night of Saturday the 18th of February before she passed away in the early hours of Sunday the 19th of February.
The pair of rottweiler-type dogs which lived at the home and belonged to the family were seized by rangers from Eurobodalla Shire Council and euthanised last Friday (24th of February) following advice from NSW Police.
In response to claims that council received reports the dogs were dangerous, a Eurobodalla Shire Council spokesperson told East Coast Radio four complaints about the dogs’ noisy barking were made to council between November 2020 and May 2021.
“Council had no reports regarding dangerous or menacing dogs associated with the address in Moruya,” the council spokesperson said.
“The barking complaints were followed up with the dogs’ owners as per standard practice.”
