Finally, some action for Surfside residents to help address disappearing sand dunes from their beachfront properties.

The State Government has confirmed to the Far South Coast Newsroom…dredging of the Clyde River in Batemans Bay will take place later this year for the first time in over five years.

This will relocate sand towards the area where 12 metres of property protection has been lost.

Local MP Michael Holland and Eurobodalla Mayor Matt Hatcher met with the Minister responsible Jenny Aitchison at State Parliament yesterday to confirm the news.

The project is outlined in a Review of Environmental Factors (REF) now on public exhibition, with community input open until Monday, 2 June 2025.

The Minister responsible Jenny Aitchison said it won’t be a one off either, with a ten-year plan to be put in place.

Community consultation sessions on the dredging plan will be held next week at the Bay Pavilions in Batemans Bay and online later in May.
