While two South Coast women, Millie Boyle and Kezie Apps, were selected in the Jillaroos 2022 World Cup Squad, only one will play.
Fresh off the weekend’s Grand Final win over Parramatta, Millie Boyle and her Newcastle teammate Tamika Upton have pulled out of the Jillaroos squad.
The Knights announced yesterday (Tuesday October 4) that Upton with withdraw due to a calf injury, while Boyle won’t travel due to work commitments.
The Cobargo local, established her business, Trainer Group, working with people living with disabilities, in and around her football commitments during 2022, and has made the tough call to prioritise work over representing her country.
The Australian Rugby League Commission has confirmed Dragons duo Emma Tonegato and Shaylee Bent will join the Jillaroos squad for the Rugby League World Cup.
Bega’s Kezie Apps will co-captain the side alongside Sammy Bremner and Ali Brigginshaw.
Apps and Boyle had fantastic seasons in 2022 with Boyle being named Prop in the inagural NRLW Team of the Year and Apps voted the Red V Members NRLW Player of the Year.
