Case Worker

Reporting to Specialists Homelessness Services Manager, the Case Worker will support single women with or without children who are at risk of homelessness or experiencing homelessness due to domestic and family violence, including but not limited to people sleeping rough, through intensive case management and assertive outreach. This will be provided through early intervention, rehousing support, intensive case management support to clients with chronic needs and transitional housing support. The role will also work with partner agencies. This position ensures the effective delivery of customer services support by being part of a team who are consistent with organisation’s policies and plans, including providing clients (including those with complex needs) with information, complaints, feedback service and specialist referrals to assist women and children who have experienced domestic and family violence to begin to recover from trauma and rebuild their lives in safety. This role is identified suitable for women applicants only. The service is based in Eurobodalla Shire.

Skills Required

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: Formal qualification in Domestic and Family Violence or Social or Community Services or equivalent experience First Aid Certificate Demonstrated ability to produce quality work with strong attention to detail within defined deadlines An understanding of and ability to work within a diverse workplace Computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite Demonstrated good standard of written and oral communication skills Effective time management and organisational skills Experience working with vulnerable women and children Understanding of and ability to work from a trauma informed framework Strong case management skills Good networking and referral skills Understanding of Aboriginal Culture and Kinship ties An understanding and commitment to SEARMS vision and values DESIRABLE: Aboriginality Knowledge of, and commitment to, relevant policies, practices and standards, including WHS, EEO, ASES and the NRSCH standards An awareness of, or the ability to gain knowledge of the regulatory and compliance frameworks that SEARMS works within, particularly the Residential Tenancies Act and the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
