An ocean-pool odyssey for charity has begun the south coast this week.

Three ladies from the Northern Rivers have traveled down to the Victorian border and plan to ride their e-bikes up the east coast of New South Wales,  and stop at ocean-pools along the way.

Travel Blogger with A girl and her e-bike, Linda Cash told East Coast Radio they’ve just done Eden, and can’t wait to discover more beautiful pools along our coastline.

“We started yesterday and our first stop was Thompson Point Baths which was very interesting given all of the oyster shells and the rocks to climb over to get there but we did get there and dipped our toes,” Cash said.

“We’re heading to Merimbula and stopping in Tathra tonight, then tomorrow we’re heading up towards Narooma and stopping in Bermagui at the Blue Pool and Bruce Steer Memorial Pool.”

All three riders have a great interest in ocean pools, something the South Coast has a number of.

“It all started when I was in Coffs Harbour working with EcoTousrism Australia and I visited the Sawtell ocean pool there and I put it on my Instagram and said ‘how could would it be to visit all the ocean pools in NSW?” Cash said.

“My buddies said let’s do it.”

The team are hoping to be back in the Northern Rivers in around four to six weeks, estimating they will pedal 50 to 80 kilometres per day.

“We’ve set up a GoFundMePage and any money we raise is going to our charities which is the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Uki Refugee Project, Myeloma Australia,” Cash said.

As the name would suggest the ladies from A girl and her e-bike, are riding e-bikes, which is something that has allowed one of the riders over 70, to take part in the 1,838km journey.

“The three of us are on e-bikes and one of our riders, Meg, is 73 and she turns 74 on Wednesday,” Cash said.

“E-Bikes really allow you to go that much further, higher and longer in terms of distance and age.”

The riders welcome people giving them a honk or having a quick chat if you spot them along the coast.
