Fatal crash keeps Princes Highway closed during morning peak

One person has died and several others taken to hospital following a fatal smash between Cobargo and Quaama this morning.

About 6:15am today emergency services were called to the Princes Highway, just south of Cobargo, near Quinlans Road following reports of a crash.

“On arrival, officers attached to South Coast Police District found that three cars and a truck had collided,” a police media release said.

“The male driver of one of the vehicles died at the scene.He is yet to be formally identified.

Police said the male truck driver was treated for a possible punctured lung and the two other drivers were physically uninjured.

NSW Ambulance said a man in his 60s who was driving the truck has chest and rib pain.

A woman in her 70s suffered lacerations to her legs, a man in his 80s has a possible chest injury.

“All three drivers were taken to Southeast Regional Hospital for mandatory testing,” police stated.

Police have commenced an investigation into the cause of the crash.

“Anyone with dashcam footage or information is urged to contact Bega Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
