Gaming on the move usually means wrestling with clunky hardware or settling for awkward touch controls on your phone screen. Microsoft has clearly noticed, because it just revealed a tiny piece of kit aimed directly at travel bags, kids, and anyone tired of lugging full-sized gamepads everywhere: the Xbox Nano Controller.

Measuring just over five inches long and weighing only 99 grams (3.5 ounces), this miniature pad is officially shorter and lighter than most smartphones in your pocket. Despite the dramatic shrink ray treatment, you are not losing any core controls. It packs all 18 standard Xbox gameplay inputs, meaning you can jump straight into a race in Forza Horizon 6 or tackle local couch co-op on Minecraft Dungeons II without wondering where your shoulder triggers went.

Beyond the shrunken footprint, the Nano features a built-in rechargeable battery and a customisable Action Button that you can map to quick shortcuts, such as grabbing screenshots or video clips. Dual connectivity via Xbox Wireless and Bluetooth makes pairing simple across consoles, mobile devices, and PC.

Priced at $49.99 USD, pre-orders are open now ahead of an official rollout this November across global markets, including Australia, the US, the UK, Europe, and Asia. In the US, holiday bundles will also link the pocket controller with new Samsung smart TVs and Meta Quest headsets alongside Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions.
