Bernard Fanning, Darren Middleton, Ian Haug, Jon Coghill and John ‘JC’ Collins are reuniting as Powderfinger for an 18-date Australian tour in September and October 2027. The shows mark the first full live performances by the original lineup since their final concert on November 13th 2010.

The Brisbane band created seven studio albums and a song catalogue that has become part of Australian cultural lore. Anthems such as “My Happiness”, “These Days”, “Sunsets”, and “On My Mind” have soundtracked core memories for decades and continue to reach new generations. Their accolades include five ARIA number-one albums, 18 ARIA Awards, and three APRA Awards, including two Song of the Year awards.

Powderfinger played countless sold-out tours across Australia and abroad and appeared at all the major festivals of their era. In April 2010, after 20 years together, they announced they were calling it a day and set out on the Sunsets Farewell Tour, which drew more than 300,000 people.

The 2027 shows will take place in an epic stadium-sized big top. Ticket options will include standing and seating, alongside an intentionally curated food and drinks lineup and the atmosphere of a travelling rock n roll circus that is here today and gone tomorrow. The events are described as part festival, part spectacle, designed to bring thousands of fans together offline to experience the music they love.

The big top will appear in convenient, central city locations: Brisbane Showgrounds, Cazalys Stadium in Cairns, Wellington Square in Perth, The Domain in Sydney, Ellis Park in Adelaide and Melbourne Park Oval.

Powderfinger will curate an all-Australian lineup of support acts, with different artists joining across the tour. The band has said it is excited to share the stage with both up-and-coming and established homegrown talent. Booking Australian support acts also backs the crews, management teams and creatives who make up the local music industry, a major focus for the group. Support announcements are expected in November during AusMusic Month.

The tour will partner with Mission Australia, which works with the most vulnerable people in communities. Homelessness is complex and rarely a single issue, frequently associated with family violence, mental health challenges and financial hardship. The cause is close to the band’s heart, and they plan to raise funds and awareness throughout the run. Further details on the partnership and how fans can get involved will be released later.

In a statement, the band said they are absolutely ecstatic to be coming together to play again. Saying:

“We are absolutely ecstatic to be coming together to play again.

Over the years there have been tons of suggestions for us to go back on the road but, until now, it never felt quite right or lined up for all of us.

We have always been so grateful for the continued support from our long-term fans and over the years we’ve picked up a lot of new ones who have never seen us play. So, it feels right to bring all of these people (including our kids who were too young to see us play) together for a special run of shows around the country next year.

People often tell us that our music is connected to their most treasured and joyous memories. We hope to spread a little more of that joy when we make our way around the country with some of Australia’s best established and upcoming talent, and to make some new memories for us all.
