D’Angelo Dies of Cancer Age 51

The Grammy-winning R&B singer D’Angelo has passed away at the age of 51 after a long fight with cancer.

The signers real name was Michael Eugene Archer, and on Tuesday his family had announced via statement that he had passed away due cancer. In the 1990’s he was known for leading the neo-soul movement. In 1995 he earned several Grammy nominations and was put on the map as an influential voice in the R&B scene.

In the 2000’s he released a music video for Untitled (How Does it Feel) which exploded overnight in popularity. The song earned him a Grammy and he then went on to win the Grammy for Best R&B album.

After his passing, his family have called D’Angelo a “shining star” before adding they are “eternally grateful for the legacy of extraordinarily moving music he leaves behind”.
