A turbo boost for young Far South Coast racing car driver Bailey Sweeney.

Harcourts Batemans Bay has just signed on as a bonnet sponsor for the 23-year-old red head ahead of Round 2 of the Super 2 Series up in Darwin in June. Super 2 is one step away from the main Supercars Competition.

Bailey finished the first round in the top ten.

Harcourts co-owner Dene Lewthwaite said it’s great to back a Batemans Bay local.

“We just like to support local in general, but I’m a motorsport fan, been to Bathurst many, many times,” he said.

“Seeing Bayles at Bathurst, I thought we’d throw some support behind him and put our name on his bonnet.

“Over the last few years he’s been stepping up through the ranks. He’s only young and hopefully he’s got a big future and can get to the top level ]but he’s progressing through the level as well.”

Lewthwaite and his partner Omania Terry also issued a challenge to other local businesses to follow their lead in supporting a Batemans Bay born and bred future Supercars champion.

He said it’s a great opportunity get behind a local set for big things.

“We’d like to see if any other businesses can kind of help support them too. We’re hoping it might be a little bit of a trigger.

“I believe there’s other vacant parts of the car that can be sponsored, which he’d be more than happy to talk to people about so yeah, give him a call at Bailey Sweeney Racing and he’ll be able to hook you up with something.”
