Bega needs rapid antigen tests - Holland

Labor Candidate for Bega, Dr Michael Holland, has called on the State Government to increase access to free Rapid Antigen Tests across New South Wales - particularly in regional communities.

He said people needed access access to the tests as large numbers of tourists arrived in the region's coastal towns, and the population tripled.

"We don’t want a situation where people are feeling unwell but can’t access a quick test simply because there aren’t any," Dr Holland said.

"It will inundate the testing infrastructure up the coast.

"In the same way, any increase in infections in our region will strain our primary health services and any increase in hospitalisation will strain our already under-resourced local hospitals," he said.

Dr Hollard accused the State Government of failing to "provide clear and logical advice on when to be tested, what test to use and what to do following your result".

"The NSW Government needs to inform the community of the advice of medical experts," he said.

"My advice is get immunised, get a booster when you can, get tested if you have symptoms and isolate according to your symptoms and results.

"For this holiday season, celebrate at home with your family where possible, use a mask and QR code when shopping or entering a restaurant, and enjoy outdoor activity."
