An earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale has struck off the Far South Coast.
The quake occurred just after 5 o’clock on Saturday afternoon around 25 kilometres offshore just south of Narooma.
GeoScience Australia reported just over a dozen reports on their website from people stating they felt the earth move.
Duty seismologist, Dr Michelle Salmon said it was the second incident recorded in our area over the past week.
“It was inland from Narooma at 5:39pm on Monday 24 November and measured 2.2,” Dr Salmon said.
“It was even smaller than this one. We haven’t got many felt reports on this one either. I think there were 3 felt reports on that one,” she said.
“I think it’s much more likely that people felt the one on Saturday afternoon.”
