Teenager killed in overnight crash south of Eden

A girl is dead and three other young people injured after a crash south of Eden overnight.

Police said they were called out to the Princes Highway at Boydtown at 9:40 last night.

When they arrived, they discovered a Toyota Landcruiser had rolled down an embankment.

“A backseat passenger – a 14-year-old girl – died at the scene,” a police statement said.

“The driver – a 20-year-old man – was trapped in the car and freed by emergency services before being airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a serious condition,” it said.

Two other passengers – a 19-year-old man and 22-year-old woman – were assessed at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics with only the woman taken to Bega Hospital for further treatment.”

Initial investigations indicate the vehicle had struck a kangaroo before crashing down the embankment.

The road was closed in both direction until around 5 this morning.
