Surfside resident pens a song about threats to local homes

A Surfside resident has taken a new approach to seek action to save homes at constant threat of tidal inundation…writing a song.

Five metres of Brendan McMahon’s property has disappeared including some very big trees in recent months because of heavy seas from events like the recent East Coast Low weather event.

Surfside residents have been fighting for years now for help from Eurobodalla Shire Council and the State Government.

“It’s fair to say the situation here is on everybody’s mind and I guess that just happened to force itself out through a song,” he said.

“It wasn’t a song that took me long to write.”

The video of the song has already had over 14,000 views on Facebook within a few days.
