The annual warning about dogs and snake bites is being sounded along the Far South Coast.
Vets from the Bay down to the border have reported a rise in the number of cases in recent weeks including several fatalities.
Dr Kate Toyer from Eurocoast Veterinary Centre said the reptiles are out of hibernation and becoming active.

“Snakes can be extraordinarily toxic to dogs,” she said.
“We mostly get red bellied black snakes down here. and they’re definitely coming out.
“My youngest son almost ran over one when he was riding his bike on the Mogo Trails.”
