A visit to the Far South Coast by the Police Minister has been thrown into controversy after her driver was arrested for high-range drink driving.
The Minister was expecting to be picked up by the driver late yesterday when she flew into Merimbula from her Newcastle electorate with a staffer.

Instead, the man was at Bega Police Station, which the Minister will officially open with Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon later this morning.
The 55-year-old man allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.183 after police received a report of a Toyota Prado driving dangerously at Bemboka. He was found pulled over on the Snowy Mountains Highway.
He’s been charged with drive with high range PCA and had his licence suspended.
He’ll front Bega Local Court on December 23.
