A large part of common areas at a disused old motel have been destroyed after fire ripped through the building at North Batemans Bay last night.

Fire and Rescue NSW received multiple Emergency Triple Zero (000) calls around 9:30 alerting them to the blaze at the Bay Waters Holiday Resort on Old Punt Road.

Fire and Rescue NSW Inspector Phillip Eberle said the initial call came in as a caravan and some outbuildings alight.

From the Rural Fire Service we had Batemans Bay, Surf Beach, Broulee, Nelligan and Long Beach.

“The RFS was a great assistance with their bulk tanker from Broulee. It did a great job in helping us use its water cannon and get deep into the building and get the fire extinguished so that we did have to stay all there last night.”
