Southern NSW Local Health District Chief Executive Margaret Bennett said she can’t give a timeframe of when radiation therapy will be offered to local cancer patients.
The health service boss has been quizzed on the issue and where it fits into the new Eurobodalla Regional Hospital.
The State Government announced earlier this year the government will issue a tender to provide radiation oncology at the new site.

But Mrs Bennett said there is absolutely no doubt that radiation oncology will be one of the services offered on the Far South Coast in the future but opening the new hospital will come first.
“The Ministry is currently going through its processes to determine the next steps when it comes to developing the next steps when it comes to the radiation oncology service but right now the focus is as I have said,” she said.
