New Gorilla sculpture creates community reaction

Eurobodalla Shire Mayor Matt Hatcher has quoted an American academic and author in a social media post about new artworks starting to pop up in the area.

Many locals have gone online to questioning a new giant gorilla sculpture at Corrigans Beach in Batemans Bay.

But in a post Councillor Hatcher responds with a quote from Dr Cesar Cruz – “Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable.”

The gorilla is one of 22 ‘Gillie and Marc’ sculptures donated to the Eurobodalla Shire.
