A woman, who lives next to a house destroyed by fire yesterday morning, said she heard her neighbour yell out for help as the flames engulfed the building.
The body of a man, who police say they believe was in his 50’s, tragically discovered in the old timber home at Denhams Beach after the blaze was put out.
Next door neighbour Karen said she was woken up by the fire at 5:15am.
“I heard my neighbour screaming out for help. I looked out and the house was alight,” she said.
“I yelled out to my son and ran downstairs and tried to see if we could access the house but it was fully engulfed.”
Son Josh said he was woken up by his mum screaming to get out of the house.
“His powerline was down in the front yard was going off everywhere and the whole thing just went up,” he said.
“The thing was literally engulfed.”
The fire spread to the front eves of Josh and his mum’s home but was quickly extinguished by firefighters.
Investigations into the cause continue today.
