A man is recovering in hospital after an alleged hit and run in Bega.
Police tell us the 73-year-old had had an altercation with the female driver of another vehicle on the Princes Highway near Newtown Road at lunchtime yesterday.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man at the scene before he was taken to South East Regional Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
“Officers from South Coast Police District have been told the man was the driver of a blue/green coloured Holden Cruze sedan when he was allegedly involved in an altercation with a female driver of another vehicle,” a statement from police said.
“The man left his car and was walking towards the other vehicle when it allegedly reversed into him. The vehicle then left the scene.
“A front-seat passenger in the sedan – a 73-year-old woman – was not injured.
“Specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit have commenced an investigation into the matter.
“As inquiries continue police are urging anyone with information about the incident – or was in the area at the time with any relevant dashcam/mobile phone footage – to contact Bega Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
