Man charged with possessing child and animal sex abuse content

The supporter of a Bega Valley man accused of possessing child and animal abuse content on his mobile phone has told the media to go away while taking photos as they were leaving court.

Matthew O’Reilly was arrested at his Wolumla home in July but only faced court for the first time yesterday.

The 41-year-old allegedly possessing the graphic material between January 19 last year and June this year.

O’Reilly hasn’t been required to enter pleas on the charges yet with the court told the DPP will be prosecuting the case which means the potential for harsher penalties in the District Court, if convicted.

His bail has been continued until his next appearance in Bega Local Court on October 27.
