Man busted speeding 42k’s over limit after cancer treatment

A magistrate has reduced a licence suspension for a Far South man busted speeding 42k’s over the limit on his way home from cancer treatment.

Raymond Connelly was driving on the Kings Highway after undergoing chemo and radiotherapy in Canberra when he was detected travelling at 132k’s per hour in a 90 zone.

His licence was suspended.

The 66-year-old fronted Batemans Bay Local Court to appeal the punishment.

His lawyer told the court he needs to maintain his licence to attend further treatment.

Magistrate Doug Dick reduced the suspension to 21 days to start after his next visit to The Canberra Hospital.
