A lawyer has asked a magistrate to jail his client after pleading guilty to stealing clothes from K-Mart.
Batemans Bay Local Court has heard William Bond is a repeat offender while appearing via videolink from prison.
During sentencing submissions…the 38-year-old’s lawyer Daniel Turner from the Aboriginal Legal Service told the court he had been making good progress behind bars and was assigned to a job doing the recycling bins.
He asked the court to consider a “short sharp period of imprisonment” followed by parole.
He’s been given three months, backdated to January 26 when he was arrested.
Magistrate Doug Dick told Bond he hopes he can get a fresh start once he’s released from prison.
“There’s more to life.”
