Valentino Guseli says he hopes to get more training now on the course after qualifying in the BIG AIR competition at the Winter Olympics in Italy.
All eyes in Dalmeny this morning were locked on the TV as local Val received a late call up for the event after a Canadian competitor was forced to withdraw due to injury.
Val was already set to compete at his second Olympics in the Half Pipe Competition next week but this morning he finished in 12th position after a magical third attempt which judges gave him a score of 91.50.
He threw his snowboard up into the air at the bottom of the run in excitement before finding out he had qualified.
The Top 12 will battle it out now for a the medals on Sunday morning our time.
Still to come over the next fortnight…Pambula’s Cooper Woods will compete at his second Winter Olympics in the Freestyle Skiing Men’s Moguls.
Jindabyne native Josie Baff, who did nippers at Tathra, will represent Australia in the Snowboard Mixed Team Cross and Snowboard Women’s Snowboard-Cross.
