The NSW Farmers Association believes local oyster farmers deserve every bit of help being offered to get back on their feet.
The State Government is offering aquiculture producers on the Far South Coast grants of up to $2-million to expand production and sustainability.
Association President Xavier Martin said the sector has been hit hard in recent years.
“The oyster industry on the South Coast is so much part of the celebration food of the nation,” Mr Martin said.
“This funding can drive the industry recovery, the competitive issues, regulatory issues. All those key aspects of the Aquaculture Vision Statement that need the resources to drive the sector to $300-million by 2030,” he said.
“That’s the vision. That’s the target.”
