A Denhams Beach woman has been told “you should be ashamed of herself” after asking a court to reduce her licence suspension after already being given the minimum by Transport for NSW.

Magistrate Doug Dick gave the spray to Georgia Betts in Batemans Bay Local Court after being caught drug driving.

He asked her if she had explained what was happening to her children which she replied she had.

“You’re not setting a very good example to them are you?”

Magistrate Dick told Betts “you have to do one or the other. Use drugs or drive, you can’t do both.”

After agreeing to undertake a traffic offenders program at her own cost and provide the certificate of completion to Service NSW within three months…the magistrate reduced the licence suspension to four weeks with a warning.

He told Betts “Life is about making decisions. If you get caught within that period you will get an automatic 6 month suspension.”
