A detailed State Government examination of the historic Cuttagee Bridge is under question this morning.
Transport for NSW bureaucrats went over the old timber structure in detail a week ago but exactly why is a mystery.
Bega Valley Shire Council General Manager Anthony McMahon said the State Government did let them know they were coming but it was at arms length from them.
“I’m not quite sure what triggered them to get involved to do that,” Mr McMahon said.
“It’s not something they would typically do getting involved in assessing bridges that they’re not responsible for managing but I guess from our perspective we are always going to value a little bit of technical insight and get their opinions and see if they come back to us with anything from their inspection,” he said.
