Condolences flow for Broulee woman Mallee Smith

An outpouring of grief for a former Broulee woman, struck in an alleged deliberate ‘hit and run’ on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast last weekend.

24-year-old Mallee Smith lost her fight to survive earlier this week in a Brisbane hospital.

Friends have taken to social media to express their sadness and disbelief.

Ness Maxwell wrote on our Facebook page…”Rest in Peace Mallee. She was an exceptional young woman.”

Jacquelene McArdle wrote “There are so many great memories from school years hanging around my place and watching you grow and achieve big goals. Taken too soon, your beautiful smile will live on forever.

Shellharbour City Council CEO Wayde Peterson said Mallee’s death had shocked her close-knit team and staff.

Mallee worked at the council as a Community Insights Planner after graduating with honours from Wollongong Uni.
