The lawyer for a Catalina man says his client has been living in hiding since his arrest for downloading 111 child abuse videos and photos onto his mobile phone.
Jason Scott Wilson sentenced to 16 months in jail yesterday after pleading guilty in Batemans Bay Local Court to possessing child abuse material, an unauthorised weapon and drugs.
The court was told following media coverage of his case he had had his front door kicked in twice and been assaulted while on bail.
Court documents state the former cleaner and local auto upholstery and car audio business owner used the Telegram app to access the content.
After turning up with a mask to partially cover his bearded face…corrections staff placed him in handcuffs and led him out to the cells.
Judge Michael Love set a non-parole period of eight months.
He’ll also be placed on the National Child Protection Register for eight years.
