A man has been under police guard in hospital overnight following his arrest in connection to several attempted armed robberies in Bega yesterday afternoon.

“Police located and arrested a 24-year-old man nearby, before he was taken to hospital for assessment and remains under police guard,” Chief Inspector Jessop said.

“The good news is that there was no one harmed or injured in relation to any of these matters,” he said.

“Inquiries are ongoing at this stage but there will be a number of charges laid and he’ll face court at a later date.”

Police confirmed the alleged offender is known to them.

The incidents come a few weeks after another man allegedly tried to hold up the nearby Commonwealth Bank. He remains before the courts.
