A man has escaped more time in jail over a raft of offences including headbutting a police officer after a pursuit after a failed RBT in Narooma.
Shane Patten pleaded guilty to various offences including drink driving, driving unlicensed, police pursuit and assaulting police that stemmed from the incidents early last year.
His lawyer asked Magistrate Doug Dick to consider a Intensive Corrections Order despite the 51-year-old previously being declared a High-Risk Offender by the court.
Magistrate Dick told the repeat offender “I’ve given you the power to control if you go back to jail.”
After already serving eight months on remand Magistrate Dick sentenced Patten to a further 27 months jail but to be served under supervision on the outside.
