Kameruka Cricket Club
A little bit about the group
Local cricket club that has 30 registered players and volunteers. The cricket club has been active for 40 years with the 2024 season will mark the big 4-0 which is a massive achievement for such a small club.
This cricket club recently won the 2023 B grade competition.
Playing local home games on Lordsview Oval on the Kameruka Estate means they play on a private field that is not owned or maintained by the local council. This is placed on the players and volunteers to upkeep the field throughout the season. Playing on a non-council-owned field also unfortunately means that this club misses many grant opportunities as this is a standard requirement.
Lordsview Oval was where England’s test cricket team played against Australia B grade. The oval still holds a rich history with strong community ties.
The cricket club is growing in its supporter, player, and volunteer base with the aim for the 2024 season to see the return of the female side and the potential for junior cricket to return.
