Update – Narooma snowboarder Valentino Guseli has kicked of the Far South Coast’s effort at the Winter Olympics over in Italy this morning.
He was placed at 14th overall after his second run this morning in the Big Air after a last minute call up several hours ago when a Canadian competitor who was forced to withdraw with injury after a practise mishap.
The 20-year-old has one jump remaining with the top 12 to advance for a chance at a medal.

A shock development for local Valentino Guseli at the Winter Olympics in Italy overnight.
The Narooma snowboarder received a late call up a few hours ago to compete in the Big Air event after a Canadian athlete was injured in practise.
The event is underway. 30 athletes are being given three jumps each with 12 going through to the final round after tomorrow morning.
While it is a last minute change…Australian Team officials confirming he had been training for the event as a reserve.
The development makes Guseli the first Aussie to compete at this Winter Olympics.
Val will also compete in the Half Pipe event next Friday morning our time.
