Fresh information has just been released on deaths and re-admission rates at Far South Coast hospitals for people with acute conditions.
The Bureau of Health Information report just released shows an improvement across the state for patient outcomes for each condition over the 2021–24 period once patient characteristics were taken into account.
Acting Chief Executive Hilary Rowell said while Bega’s South East Regional and Batemans Bay Hospital results were in line with that, the same can’t be said at Moruya.
“When we looked at mortality rates one hospital had higher than expected mortality rates for two of the conditions,” she said.
“That was Moruya Hospital in relation to heart attack and pneumonia.
“It is important to note that mortality and readmission rates are not conclusive measures of hospital performance.
“The results are designed to prompt clinical review alongside other local sources of information.”
