The alarm has been raised for Far South Coast dog owners about the threat of ticks.
The weather here has been warming up and so are the number of dogs being rushed to the vets with paralysis tick.
Paralysis tick is the most common type found locally but there are other varieties.

Dr Kate Toyer from Eurocoast Veterinary Centre said if you find a tick on your dog assume the worst.
“Honestly assume it’s a paralysis tick,” she said.
“Work on the clinical signs, which are things like difficulty walking, a bit of wobbliness, some difficulty breathing .
“If you see any of these signs then we would definitely like to see you.”
