A reduction in the number of collisions in the Eurobodalla between motorists and some of our local wildlife such as kangaroos and wombats.
A device that admits a combination of small alarms and flashing LED lights when triggered by approaching headlights are stopping the animals going onto the road at the wrong time.
Heidi Thompson from Eurobodalla Shire Council said it’s part of a trial at three targeted locations.
“So we’ve got trial sites now at Cullendulla Drive in Long Beach, Dunns Creek Road between Tomakin and Mogo and Tomakin Road,” she said.
“In some cases WIRES has reported we’re they were getting up to five roadkills a week, that’s now been eliminated.”
The trial has been supported by WIRES , the Coast Watchers Association, the Great Eastern Ranges conservation organisation and the Worldwide Fund for Nature.
