What's up Australia Day?
Below is a little list of a few events happening around the Far South Coast this long weekend.
Cooked breakfast in Bega
The Bega Valley Shire Council’s official Australia Day ceremony and celebration takes place in Bega with the traditional breakfast in Littleton Gardens.
There’ll be family fun in Littleton Gardens, market stalls and entertainment from 7.30am. The official Australia Day ceremony will start at 9am.
Tathra Fishing And Fun
Get on the water in Tathra for Australia Day with Amateur Fishing Club hosting the annual fishing competition, with $1300 in prize money up for grabs this year.
The annual Tathra Family Fun Carnival is on until January 27 on the beachfront reserve next to the skate park.
Join all the fun of dodgem cars, jumping castles, kids rides and family fun games along with a food van.
On Australia Day, all proceeds raised will be donated to the Tathra and District Mayoral Bushfire Appeal.
The Rotary Club of Merimbula is cooking up a free Big Aussie Breakfast from 7.30am to 8.30am at Ford Oval.
Merimbula’s official Australia Day ceremony runs from 8-9.30am, followed by music until 10am.
The Great Australia Day Float
The traditional Australia Day float on Merimbula Lake is on again. Leap in to the lake from Merimbula Bridge with your floats and follow the tide to Spencer Park.
Cobargo’s CWA are hosting a celebration of, and for, the community from 10am. The local Scouts will be cooking up a sausage sizzle ahead of the official proceedings from 11ish.
Kicking off at 11am there is an Australia Day flag raising ceremony at the Eden Killer Whale Museum.
The BBQ will be burning thanks to ESSCI and Eden Singers will get in the mood with some Aussie songs.
