Bega Valley Shire Mayor Kristy McBain says the NRL Panthers v Penrith 'Battle of Bega' trial game, held on Saturday injected nearly $5 million into the local economy.
The NRL trial game on Saturday at Bega ended up in a 22-all draw and was followed by a concert headlined by Amy Shark.
Both teams had been in the region late last week, visiting fire-affected areas, schools and the community.
Ms McBain said the boost to business and the region had come at one of the most challenging times in the shire's history.
She said bringing people together to share good times and and she says bringing people together to share good times and recharge was "priceless".
