The Sapphire Coast Kart Club has been chosen to host the NSW State Kart Championships this October.

The club's Tam Prime says the group, which has its track at Frogs Hollow just south of Bega, is attracting new members and going strongly.

The club's season gets underway this weekend. It had been postponed because of the fires.

Tam says practise day is Saturday at the track, with the competition proper getting underway on Sunday.

She says it's great news that the club will host the NSW championships later this year, and says it will be the first time the event has come down south.
