A man has been dumped outside a Melbourne hospital with a gunshot wound.

He was dropped outside the Monash Medical Centre at Clayton by a van shortly after 4pm on Saturday, police say.

The man is being treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries and is yet to be identified.
