Bermagui illegal camper charged with carrying up to fifty explosives

A man has been charged with possessing explosives in public at Bermagui yesterday afternoon. 

Shortly after 5pm police were notified of a person illegally camping on the headland near Horseshoe Bay.

Police found the vehicle and trailer surrounded by litter and allegedly found a bag containing 40 to 50 suspected explosive devices. The explosives were disposed of by the NSW Police Rescue and Bomb Disposal unit. 

A 66-year-old man was arrested, and charged with a number of offences including with littering, displaying misleading number plates, possess explosive in public place and offensive language. 

He was granted bail to appear before Narooma Local Court on the 12th of December.
